Introduction to Pathfinder Tools

In this lesson we'll learn:

  • How to use the pathfinder tools

    • Unite

    • Minus Front

    • Divide

    • Trim

You'll see that 'Unite' and 'Merge' are very similar. Unite creates 1 shape, making everything the same, regardless of their current fill color. Merge removes all overlapping areas but keeps the visibly different shapes and only combines shapes with the same fill color. Play around with the worksheet it to see the difference yourself!

Take Action:

  1. Download the practice worksheet.

  2. Follow along with the video by creating 4 sets of overlapping houses.

  3. Use the unite tool, minus front, divide and trim tool.

This exercise is just an introduction to these tools. We'll be exploring them in great depth next week (they're some of my favorites!).

Great Job! Keep Going!
