In this lesson we'll learn:

  • How using isolation modes will benefit your workflow.

  • How to group and ungroup items.

  • How to enter into isolation mode and exit isolation mode.

Tip:  to group several items, select them > 'Command G' on your keyboard. To ungroup, right click and select 'Ungroup'.

Take Action:

  1. Download the practice worksheet.

  2. Begin by locking the background square.

  3. Practice ungrouping the dots, then grouping them back together.

  4. Now double click on the flower to enter into isolation mode (level 1).

  5. Double click again on the center white dots to enter into isolation mode (level 2).

  6. Next zoom in, rearrange some of the dots, and zoom back out to your artboard.

  7. Practice exiting isolation mode one level at a time by clicking back on the arrow in the top left corner.

  8. Practice exiting isolation mode all at once by double clicking off your artwork (anywhere in the document).
